Is This World War III?
The Claim:On today's episode of Meet The Press, Tim Russert had former house speaker Newt Gingrich and Senator Joe Biden discuss the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The two also talked about the "North Korean Missile Crisis" and the upcoming presidential elections. Robert Novak was another guest on the show, and he briefly discussed the CIA leak investigation. Both stories were interesting, but things got really interesting when Gingrich said that this conflict between Israel and Hamas could lead up to World War III.
The Reality:
If we analyze the state that the world is in right now, Gingrich might actually be right. While talk of World War III may have been unrealistic a few years ago; in these days there is actually a large chance that it may occur. Israel may reach the point where they actually attack Iran, which would result in a full scale Middle-East conflict; and of course, we have to back up Israel if it comes to this point. Involvement of the United States in this war will not only put soldiers in the military at risk, but also the people here in the states will be in danger. Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist cells are a thing that should be taken seriously, because there are probably a large amount of them that have immigrated into this country one way or another.
Some analysts say:
Once the United States is attacked again; it is over. There will be no restraints, no holding back, the U.S. government will literally have had enough with these terrorists; and they will probably do things that citizens would have never believed could happen. I mean, there would probably be door to door searches, in an effort to completely eradicate the country of anyone who would want to cause harm to US citizens. They would not be put in a prison where they get to watch movies and eat good meals either; there would be no prison for these people. No deportation either, just the death penalty. While I personally do not think that the US government would go as far as that, it still would be a changed government no doubt.
Enough Already...
So are we headed for a new World War? Some people think so, and some people think no. I am sort of split on the issue myself. I mean, look at the Cuban Missile Crisis. There was no World War after that, and they had their weapons actually aimed at us. The bottom line is, even if the world is going to end in a couple of years, we should enjoy it while we last. So get yourself a drink, sit down, and relax ladies and gentlemen. We will all be all right.
