Cool Cop

Yesterday I went out for my daily bike ride during the afternoon. It was a nice day for a bike ride; because it was cloudy and a bit cooler than usual. Anyway, my ride was going pretty smoothly, as it always does. After riding down to the local shopping center, I decided that I should turn back and head home, because there was a chance of rain that day, and I didn't want to be riding home wet.

While I was waiting at a crosswalk for traffic to pass, I noticed a police car coming my way. My intentions were to let them go through the crosswalk before I rode off, but the car pulled up next to me instead. I was greeted by a friendly looking police officer, and our conversation went something like this: (I'm the red text, the cop is the blue text.)

"Hey kid, how you doing today?"

"Fine officer, just fine."

"Good, well how old are you man?"

"Fifteen officer."

"Ohhh, you should have your helmet shouldn't you?"

"I suppose officer, I just left it at home."

"It's alright man, you need to be wearing one though. You've never been arrested or anything like that?"

"No sir."

"Well then you have yourself a good day kid."

"You too officer."

Amazed that I didn't get a ticket, I rode home and went to go find a helmet. I was grateful that I was pulled over by a cop that was cool enough to let a kid go without getting him into trouble with his parents, and I'm very grateful for that. It could have been a lot worse, we could have been slapped with a big, fat, ticket; but thankfully I got pulled over by a cool cop.

Just to let you know, I think that all cops are cool, but this one just did me a favor and didn't give me the ticket, so I declare him "Cop of the day!"

A Little Info on Me

  • I'm Riess
  • From Anaheim, California, United States
  • Living out in Anaheim is great! If you like hot weather! Southern California is actually a great place to live, if you have enough money in your pocket of course. Apartments out here in the west are more expensive than many houses in the midwest! Although I may only be a wee sixteen years old, I watch the news and the stock market like an adult would, and I've even given out stock tips to some of my family members who invest in the great world of the NYSE. It has not been the easiest life in the world for me, but it could be a lot worse. Whenever I think the chips are down, I think of the people that live in poverty, in the United States and all over the globe. Avid watcher of the G8 summit and Presidential debates when they are on as well.
